A succession of Melford corners didn't bring them dividends half way through the opening period, home goalkeeper James Philp coming to their aid to deny Nathan Rowe and, when that effort was spilled, he stopped Steve Adams from scoring from the follow up.
Chances then came relatively thick and fast in the second half but few were enough to fully trouble either shot stopper, Mutswunguma, Mickey Davis, Jemel Fox and substitute Mitchell Burr getting in shots for the hosts and Elliot Walker and substitute Archie Pether, whose injury time shot was tipped round the near right post, having efforts the away side.
Adams had the best chance for Melford after 58 minutes when Hassan Ally played him in but he fired well over when free near the penalty spot.
Jake Noble, with a 25 yard controlled volley that skimmed on to the roof of the net, and a 20 yard Marc Abbott free kick that was palmed away by 'keeper Glen Morrison on 89 minutes were the closest Haverhill came to finding the winning goal.
ROVERS : Philp, Carroll, Fox, Noble, Holmes, Moody, Abbott, Bradley (Haines, 74), Lovell (Burr, 69), Mutswunguma, Davis. Subs not used – Farrant, Halls, Tait, Lewis, Sartini.
