Haverhill Rovers v Brightlingsea Regent

By

An uninspiring display from Haverhill ended with promotion chasers Brightlingsea completing the league double over them.

Stuart Kingham headed a Marc Abbott corner into the side heading for the home side, Haverhill goalkeeper palming Terry Rymer's low 30 yard free kick behind of goal before the sole goal of the game came on 41 minutes, home defender Marcus Hunt unluckily slicing his clearance 15 yards out and Billy Wales took his time before finding the bottom left corner of the net from just outside the six yard box.

The hosts looked for a second half equaliser but it was not to be, the closing stages seeing them lose winger Dan Jeffrey after he was injured sliding into the pitch side barrier and Dan Cornwell going close, only to see his side foot volley going wide of the mark.

ROVERS: Greygoose, P Abbott, Newnes, Holmes, Hunt, Robinson (Parkinson, 67), M Abbott, Kingham, Cornwell, Ofosu (Alleyne, 67), Jeffrey (O'Brien, 87)
Subs not used - Strong, Thompson

Man of the match: Marcus Hunt
