OUR FIRST INTERVIEW WITH OUR NEW BOSS! MARC ABBOTT

By Barbara Jones

Our new manager gives an inspiring insight into the future of Haverhill Rovers ahead of tonight's local Derby fixture.

How do you feel about becoming the new manager of Haverhill Rovers Football Club
“I’m overjoyed in terms of messages, calls and being stopped by youth managers, players etc. A very welcome feel to new beginnings ahead. I feel proud to be given the opportunity to head up a fantastic community club and my primary aim is to improve all coaches and players within the setup”.

What are your aspirations and new priorities to your new job?
“In the short term, to create an environment that players, staff, and fans want to be in and around. To simplify details given to the squad and create better individuals within the setup”.

Can you update us on your backroom appointments yet?
“A high profile local lad currently working in the youth setup whilst looking to develop himself and younger players will be a valuable asset for tonight’s game and potentially longer term.

Also, an academy coach with a wealth of experience in the professional setup will undoubtedly be a valuable asset who prides himself on strong work ethic and tremendous detail given to players. Again, hopefully buys into what we are doing and will secure a longer term”.

How do you feel about your first game ever being the Haverhill Derby at Step 5?
“Although a big game in terms of branding for the town, our players will experience many big games in the coming years. Whilst this is important, it is just another league game that we will be looking to dominate”.

What are your thoughts ahead of this evening’s game and what are you hoping the outcome will be?
“No doubt this will be a memorable first game in front of a large crowd and our home fans. For me it’s important that the players and staff conduct themselves to the club values. A club the size of Haverhill Rovers, nothing less than a win would be significant. One thing for sure, I can guarantee that the players will not let themselves down”.
