Pre-season training well and truly underway at Heaton Moor!

By Danny Child

As Heaton Moor continue their pre-season training we chat with new head coach Mark Edwards as the squad enter their 3rd week.

Pre-season is well and truly underway at Heaton Moor as new Head Coach Mark Edwards starts putting the players through their paces, ahead of a new season at the Moor.

Training sessions so far have been a mix of skills, games and a little fitness. It appears players new and old are thoroughly enjoying the sessions and the variety Mark brings to his sessions. On average we’ve had circa 35 players down on a Tuesday and Thursday, plus gym sessions on Saturday mornings, which can only bode well for the season ahead.

We spoke to Head Coach Mark Edwards about the new season and how pre-season is going after the first two weeks;

“Pre-season has started really well, the numbers have been great and the lads are really throwing everything they have into the training and gym. We’re trying to implement a new way of playing that hopefully will bring a bit of structure into our play. The lads have really bought into this so far – which is fantastic.”

We also asked Mark about the numbers at training;

“Numbers at training have been great, it looks like people are enjoying the sessions and it also looks like we have a few new faces which is great for the team and the club.”

And on the season ahead Mark added;

“Without doubt it’s going to be a tough season ahead, although we have effectively stayed in the same league as last year, there have been a number of new teams merged into the league. In addition to this there has also been some strong teams promoted / relegated into the league. So the players and I are under no illusions as to the task ahead of us, however for now we are taking it one game at time, and collectively focusing on the first games of the season, first team taking on Oldershaw and second team playing Burnage, both at home”

First league games of the season are Saturday 2nd September, both teams are playing at home, which promises to be a great day for the club. So please get down and show your support.

Likewise we are always keen to hear from new players. If you interested in playing why not come down for a couple of sessions, training is every Tuesday and Thursday starting at 7pm at Heaton Moor.
