Helsby U8/7s Cheshire Cup

Total Commitment Goes Unrewarded.

In conditions more suited to a swimming gala than a rugby tournament Helsby U8's and 7's played their hearts out in deep mud, but thanks to a lack of luck and a few poor refereeing decisions they did not manage the victories they deserved. In spite of this, speaking as their coach this season I would like to say I am incredibly proud of the commitment and sportsmanship the scratch team of only 8 players (half of them U7's) showed over 4 matches.

Brett, Will, Ben, and Dan as the older players in the team were all over the park and as a unit defended like tigers and scored some excellent tries between them (some of which were disallowed!)

Harrison, Jamie, Joseph, and Edmond showed what great potential they have as rugby players for the future, and held their own and more with aggressive tackling and running. Keep it up lads!

Although there was big disapointment at the end of a very rainy day, thanks to these young players, the future looks sunny and bright for Helsby RUFC.

A big thanks should also go out to the parents who turned out. Mark and I could not have done it without you!
