Ipswich Seven Ladies 3s 8 – IES Ladies 3s 1

On somewhat of a grizzly morning Ipswich Ladies 3s faced IES Ladies 3s in the first of their derby games for this season. Straight on after the Ladies 4s they looked to emulate their winning result despite the weather. From the off-set it didn’t look like there was going to be much problem with that. The first goal came only a few minutes into the game from a penalty corner with SP deflecting Kiya’s strike perfectly on the left post to beat the keeper. Only a few minutes later Nicky Miller expertly dribbled the ball along the back line and her pass to the P spot was ‘spot’ on for Vic Clement to hit the backboards with one touch. Goal number 3 was again from another well worked penalty corner routine with Nicky Miller this time getting on the score sheet. Some superb transfers by the defence and flowing play through midfield saw Jock score both goals number 4 and 5 from open play giving her the lead in goals scored so far this season for the 3s. This hard work from the midfield and defence continued tirelessly seeing off any attempts from IES to get into scoring positions. A superb midfield pass out to the forwards saw Vic Clement go on a dizzy run around 3 or 4 players and a pass for debutant Amber Duff to secure her first goal in adult hockey for goal number 6. The final goal in the first half went to Flavia. A well deserved goal for someone who had been nothing but hard working and tenacious all game. As the half time whistle blew the score stood at 7-0. A few changes in the second half to cope with injuries meant the team took a little while to settle and unfortunately IES scored a consolation goal early on. However Ipswich stepped it up and this saw Ella score the 8th and final goal of the game late into the second half. The midfield and defence worked non-stop to make sure no other counter attacks from IES could pose any further danger. Tabbie also had an outstanding performance in goal. Coach Henry Langton said ‘The first half was flawless, the second half saw a performance dip due to tired legs and some positional changes which were unexpected but so many positive aspects to work on’.

Man of the Match : Amber Duff
