MATCH REPORT SQUIRES GATE 2 IRLAM FC 5

IRLAM FC hit top form on Tuesday night as they tore through what has to be said was a decent Squires Gate side, a 5-2 victory with plenty of highlights in the game for IRLAM. The game would belong on the night to Marcus Perry, the often brilliant Irlam winger tore through a frail Gate defence to register a hat trick before 30 minutes was played. Add to that an assist for the fourth goal and Perry would give himself a night to remember at School Road. All three goals from Perry showcased the Irlam wingers pace, each goal coming from a run through and strike that the home side had no answer to. The Gate left fullback suffered a torrid time throughout the game, a young player who worked hard and possibly deserved a little more support at times as Perry ran through time and time again.
Perry, fresh from a 30 minute hat trick would turn provider on 35 minutes, breaking again down the right before picking out Matty Boland, the Irlam forward always a certainty from 18 yards out as he coolly slotted into the bottom corner to make it 4-0 at the break.

The second half again started with the home side at sixes and sevens as Fletcher in the Gate goal worked miracles to deny separate strikes from Perry and Boland to keep the score within reach.
The saves seemed to inject hope into the home side, and substitute Brett Dawson would start to find a way back, a quick turn and strike that put Gate on the score sheet.
On the hour mark Irlam striker Connor martin , struggling after a challenge on him in the first half, was replaced by returning forward Jordan Buckley, and it would be Buckley who would underline his class minutes later. Tightly marked in the Gate area with his back to goal, Buckley would switch feet and gain just enough space to turn and rifle home Irlam's fifth goal as the home side could only watch in disbelief.
The home side would reply again immediately, Brett Dawson again would find the goal as Irlam lost possession playing out of their own half, the Gate forward with a decent run and strike to underline a short but successful evening for the substitute.
The game would eventually settle down after this, the team producing one of their best performances of the season from front to back as the final whistle confirmed a dominant display by IRLAM
