Working In the Community Kings Norton Rhinos team up with West Heath Primary School

On Tuesday 31st October Kings Norton RFC held their Annual All Girls Primary School Tag Rugby Festival at their Hopwood Park facility organised by Matt Blackburn Sports Master from West Heath Primary school who was supported by a great team of staff and Teachers from other local schools in and around the Birmingham area. Kings Norton RFC thank these teachers who arrange and facilitate for their pupils to have the chance of involvement in a great Rugby Football experience at a local Rugby Club.

The Primary Schools and Teams taking part this year were from the following schools, Princethorpe, Saint Marys, Wychall, Raddlebarn entering teams and West Heath, Meadows and St John Basco, entering two teams each, giving a total of ten teams taking part in the competition. The teams were split into two Leagues with everyone playing each other in the league and the winner of each League playing each other and also the runners up in each league. All teams and girls taking part were awarded medals for participating and Trophies were awarded to each team for their school Trophy Cabinets.

The team who were awarded the Winners Shield this year were newcomers Saint John Basco and the runners up Shield was awarded to West Heath A Team with Saint Marys and West Heath B teams coming in joint third place. Kings Norton Rhinos RFC currently run a Girls Tag Rugby Squad which is part of The West Midlands Girls Tag Rugby League (https://sites.google.com/site/westmidlandsgirlstagleague/). All the girls at the tournament were invited to join us at Kings Norton Rhinos RFC, we are on constant look out for new girls who want to play Rugby Football, so please come on down to Hopwood Park if you would like to get involved, you will get a warm welcome. Girls in the age range 8 to 17 can take part in this none contact form of Rugby Football and when older are encouraged to enter our O2 Touch Rugby run by Kings Norton RFC. For Girls who wish to get involved with the contact game Kings Norton have formed links with the Ladies section at Five Ways Old Edwardians RFC who are our near neighbours also based in Ash Lane Hopwood. Girls Tag Rugby at Kings Norton RFC is a great way to keep fit, meet new friends and get out into the fresh country.
