East Kilbride Tournament 2012

By

Competitive challenges to finish off the 2011/12 season.

The players were set and raring to go for their final Tournament as P7's at East Kilbride.

First game against Hamilton saw a close fought game. Daniel Shanks and Daniel Sutherland showed great speed and skill and scored a try each. Hamilton came back fighting and scored some good trys. Cameron snaked through the opposition and scored a another before Euan used his speed to win his way through the Hamilton defence also. Menno came on during the first half for his debut. Welcome to the team! Daniel Sutherland was a forced to be reckoned with and tackled with great skill in this game. Well done Daniel. Final score Lasswade 4 - Hamilton 4.

Second game saw Lasswade play Ayr. This Ayr side were strong, fast and used great skill with the ball. Our guys fought hard, but seemed to give up as Ayr scored again and again. Even though the score did not show it, our P7 team did have sparks of great skill. Tony has developed massively this season, and his efforts were for all to see. Daniel Crabbe powered through a couple of the opposition. Lasswade were beaten by a much stronger and better organised side. Lasswade 0 - Ayr 8.

Third game against East Kilbride was an important one and we had to switch on. Both sides were very determined and good rugby was played by both sides. Allesio was on fire this game and sped through the opposition many times. Scott was powering through the opposition and had really good games today, as did the ever improving John, whos support play and attack minded runs were excellent. Daniel Shanks tore through and scored 4 tries and would have scored 5 but passed to Cameron who scored the 5th try. Final score Lasswade 5 East Kilbride 4.

FINAL

Scoring of the games meant that our P7 team were playing for 1st or 2nd place in the Tournament (against Ayr). This has given them a well deserved boost to their confidence. If only they realised what a good side they actually are!!!!!

As this was Kami's final game for the club, she was made captain for the occassion. Again, this game against Ayr was a hard one for the her charges. There were a couple of injuries more through trying too hard on our part. Ayr played at times a less than rugby rules game but were still a slightly better side. Connor played well too to help Daniel Sutherland scored a wonderful try and, later, Daniel Shanks scored another try. Final score Lasswade 2 Ayr 6.

A hard, well fought, tough Tournament with medals for second place. Sadly, because of injuries and other commitments, Scott, Thomas, Logan and Fraser were all unavailable. Well done everyone involved today, and throughout the season. All the players, coaches and the ever vocal and supportive parents on the sidelines.

Once again, a big thanks to Simon for his match reports and the paparazzi (Susan) for her wonderful photographs. Thanks guys!
