Leek Town celebrated a successful day on and off the pitch on Non League Day.
As well as recording a 4-1 victory against Lincoln United in the FA Trophy the Blues launched their formal association with the Totally Locally campaign.
Visitors to the FA Trophy match were able to sample pie, peas and gravy with a bottle of real ale for five pounds before and during the game.
The pies were supplied by Lawton’s Pies of Derby Street, Leek accompanied by beer from Titanic Brewery.
Totally Locally promotes local spend and urges locals to be a tourist in their own town. They estimate that if everyone in Leek spent just five pounds a week with local independent shops, instead of online or with the big supermarkets it would generate over £4M for the local economy.
Dave Swarbrook who put the offer together for the club commented: “As I know a few local breweries and I am a long time Leek Town supporter I was pleased to be help. Pies, beer and football – what’s not to like!”.
Leek Town Chairman, Jon Eeles said: “We’ve always bought as much from local suppliers as possible, and this event formalised our commitment to Totally Locally Leek and to the local economy."
He added "We sold out of all pies on the day, and had some great feedback from the fan base. We sold all our programmes too which included an exclusive badge giveaway, we will be looking to do more offers in the future and not just limit this to Non League Day."
