Education is key to success...
Leigh Genesis Are Pleased to announce the clubs education programme. Leigh Genesis Coach Dale Boydell has prepared and started to deliver a bespoke player CPD style course that is designed to inform young players of their own bodies and fitness. The course consists of 3 x 1.5hr lessons, which is broken down into STRENGTH/SPEED&STAMINA theory and practical. The theory part of the course is delivered via powerpoint and is supported with worksheets so that players can confirm their knowledge of the skeletal/muscular & organ systems, and the practical element is low level tests made fun.
Versions of this course are currently being delivered in schools by Dale across Lancashire & Merseyside in Years 5&6 as part of their SMSC/STEM Curriculum, and in various Football Academies across the North West to their U11s & U12s.
The U11 age group were represented by 20 attendees this week and the course was supported by Head Coach Lee Darbyshire and U11 Manager Neil Sumner. Feed back from everyone is that this is already a resounding success.
The plan is to deliver to the U12 age group next and then move it up the age group ladder.
