UNITED'S WEEK OF WOE

By

For the second time this week United were not at their best as they slipped to a second succesive away defeat. Newcastle started the brighter.

United never really recovered from a slow start and after going behind in the first minute through Chris Budrys we conceded a Reddington own goal in the 20th minute.

With Scott Coupland choosing to play cricket ahead of this fixture Terry Fleming recalled Sam Orritt to the squad with Sam Mullarkey stepping up from the bench to fill Coupland's shirt.

We managed to steady the ship but never really troubled our opponents. The game was over as a contest in the 50th minute when Jordan Johnson scored to make it 3-0.

The bad news for Newcastle was the win didn't help their title aspirations as Barwell had won to lift the league title. However the runners-up trophy was presented to them after the game and they now have a play-off semi-final at home to Grantham Town on Thursdau 28th April.
