Marine travelled to South Yorkshire on Monday night and returned with all three points as they beat play off chasing Shaw Lane at Sheerien Park.
Manager Tommy Lawson restored Peter Wylie and James Short to the full back positions and the Mariners were full value for this win on a heavy pitch after another April downpour.
Paul Clayton put the Ducks in front on the quarter hour, getting the final touch from close range following a corner.
The visitors responded well and squared the match seven minutes later, a free kick falling to Adam Hughes inside the box to fire home a powerful volley to notch his 8th goal of the season.
Another set piece saw the Crosby side grab the lead on 33 minutes, Tom Field shooting from the edge of the area in to the bottom corner of Eddie Wilczynski's net.
The homesters hit the post at the other end before Josh Amis brought the first of several good saves from the Shaw Lane stopper, his strong shot from 22 yards being turned around the post.
The Mariners continued to cause problems going forward during the second half, Liam Tongue putting them two goals to the good on 63 minutes by heading in James Short's delightful cross at the far post.
Both sides had chances to add further goals as conditions deteriorated but the Mariners saw time out comfortably to record an excellent win.
