Marine went down to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Matlock Town at Causeway Lane on Tuesday night.
Manager Neil Young made one change from his starting line up in the FA Cup win at Brackley Town, with Steve Irwin coming in for James Joyce.
The Mariners started well and took the lead with five minutes gone, James Murray’s low cross shot from the right deflecting off Adam Yates and nestling inside Ross Durrant’s near post.
The Gladiators levelled seven minutes later, a long throw from the right being headed on for Marcus Marshall to head in from close range.
Craig Westcarr put the homesters in front from the penalty spot just after the half hour after Kenny Strickland had tripped Marshall.
Craig Carney was sent off for Marine early in the second half following a tackle, and although the Whites still had plenty of attacking play with ten men it was Marshall who wrapped up the points on 81 minutes with a low shot in to the bottom corner.
