Marine went down to a 1-0 defeat on Saturday at the Don Amott Arena, hosts Mickleover changing places with the Mariners in the relegation zone of the Evo-Stik Premier Division table.
The Crosby side had plenty of possession and got in to good areas on several occasions, but had a frustrating afternoon in front of goal by shooting off target.
In contrast Mickleover had a good spell in the game following their 13th minute goal and looked likely to add to that tally as the half wore on, Ted Cribley having their best chance with a close range effort that came back off the woodwork.
Marine started well with James Murray and Michael Elstone both having shots over the top but Sports took the lead following a corner, Nathan Jarman finding the net with a low shot at the near post.
Both sides made enforced changes through injury with James Short being replaced by Charley Edge for the visitors, with Ricky Ravenhill and goalkeeper Lewis King departing for the hosts.
The second half began much like the first with the Mariners pressing forward, with Mickleover defending resolutely. Craig Carney fired in a strong shot from distance that was held comfortably by substitute custodian Callum Hawkins, but their best chance fell to Danny Mitchley who turned his man in the box but put his shot over the bar.
Both sides had chances from corners with headers off target but Mickleover held out to take the points.
