Battled to the End!

Despite fighting hard it just wasn't our day....
Hoping to build on their successful start to the season Marlow 3s played host to Milton Keynes at Bisham Abbey. A positive team talk from Captain Nikki set the team on their way. From the starting whistle it was evident that MK were strong, experienced and well organised . However it was Marlow who had the first few chances. Katie Windsor drove the ball down the right wing into Jo G-B, who despite being heavily marked in the D managed to get a shot off which was just wide of the post.
MK played the ball straight to their high forwards, immediately putting the Marlow defence under pressure. Their attack was thwarted by Liz Tidy and Marlow pressed forward once again. Their efforts were rewarded with a short corner, which was not converted.
Another direct MK attack resulted in Marlow unfortunately scoring an OG. Marlow picked themselves up and continued to fight and push forward, with some excellent interlinking play between the midfield and the forward line. MK tackled well and were extremely organised making it tricky for Marlow to get the breakthrough they deserved. Marlow won the last of their several penalty corners in the final two minutes and were unfortunate not to level the score.
Marlow can take away positives from their continued fight, effort and tenacity and look forward to taking 3points from MK later in the season and bouncing back against Bicester next week.
