Stellor come good in Q4 to turn it around

From a spectators point of view this was a good game - always close, competitive and plenty of goals. From a coaches point of view, it was no doubt frustrating as the basics were often not on display today. The first 3 qtrs all followed an almost identical pattern with Stellor struggling to win ground balls, especially from face but also in general play. This gave Timperley a large share of possession and with a couple of our spine missing today we looked a bit disorganised and let their better players get shooting angles too often or to pick out a free attacker.

Goals were traded in Q1 (3-4) down and Q2 (6-7) with it becoming clear that our attacking side was more than capable of scoring if we did the basics right of quick passing and moving. Defensively the first half today was as poor as we have been all season and we were not a unit. The 3rd qtr also wasn't the best with Timperely extending their advantage to 8-10 as we now also started to play poorly in the attacking half, trying to force a shot that wasn't on and a general lack of vision to spot a free player. Despite that the boys never give up and in Q4 it clicked together. This may have been because Timperley lost a player meaning we played most of the qtr as a 9 a side game and we certainly adapted better and looked confident in the attacking half scoring some nice goals spread amongst the team. A 5-0 qtr whitewash meant we ran out 13-10 winners in a game that could have gone either way. Thanks to Huss for stepping in to coach today with Bick reffing.

A good spectacle with a number of positives and again credit to the boys for keeping going throughout. Also plenty to work on at training!

Goals: Luke (5), Matthew (3), Tom (2), Sam, Ben T and Ashley 1 each.
