Prior to the start of this game a minutes silence was held for former Nefyn player Gareth 'Skwl' Williams. Deepest condolence to the family from all at Menai Bridge Tigers.
One change to the starting XI today was Darren 'chicken' Jones replacing Dale Owens (holiday) at left wing back.
The Bridge started well again, and if it wasn't for some brave blocks and some fine saves from the Nefyn keeper we should have been a few goals up in the first 20mins. From a corner Ryan Owen put a header wide of the post and Dafydd Healy rattled the crossbar.
A ball down the flank put Dean Redmond through and as he cut into the box he smashed the ball passed the Nefyn keeper but his finger tips pushed the ball onto the post and as the ball trickled across the length of the goal Dean ran in to try and finish it off only to be pulled back by a Nefyn player .. Ref had no hesitation but to point to the spot and up stepped Darren Gowans and placed the ball into the bottom corner. Just on half time a cross into the box landed at Dafydd Healy's feet and he slotted the ball into the back of the net.
Halftime - Menai Bridge Tigers 2 - 0 Nefyn United
From the start of the second half the bridge continued to pile on the pressure with Harry Jones and Darren Jones working hard on the flanks and the hard work of midfield three of Darren Gowans, Shaun Lock and Callum Davidson creating chances it was only a matter of time before we scored again. The work rate of Sion Hogan and Dean Redmond was outstanding again.
A defence splitting pass put Callum Davidson through on goal and unselfishly he played the ball across the goal for Dean Redmond to score his 1st goal for the club. on 64 mins a free kick on the half way line was taken by Darren Gowans and with Nefyn trying to play a highline.. Shaun Lock ran through and volleyed the ball passed the keeper to make it 4.
Subs - Darren Gowans, Dean Redmond & Shaun Lock replaced by Guy Hughes, Kevin Roberts and Dave Baston.
Ryan Owen, Tom Parry, Dafydd Healy and Dave Clarke had a very comfortable game and were very rarely put under pressure, until the 84th minute when a shot from distance was heading straight into clarkeys hand but the Nefyn forward Alyn Williams (usually a keeper) but his foot out and re-directed the ball into the other corner.
on 87th mins a cross to the far post was met by Dave 'back post' Baston and he beat the on rushing defender and smashed the ball into the net.
