It took just 5 minutes for Scouts to open the scoring, with a try from a driving maul from a line out, which skipper Callum Inwood dotted down and the extras being added by Christian Barry.
Although this early score settled the home sides nerves, it did kick start the visitors into some good phases of attacking play, allowing themselves to get back into the game. On 20 minutes and after good competitive rugby from both sides, Scouts outside centre Lewis Keable finished off a good handling move.
From the re-start Scouts immediately attacked again, however the ball was turned over by the visitors and a large deep kick, with an awful bounce landed right into the hands of the Huntingdon centre who ran in unopposed, bringing the score to slender 12 points to 7.
Full back Henry Dunn dotted down 10 minutes later allowing Scouts to stretch their lead and go into the break 19 points to 7 up.
The second half saw the visitors score again, bringing the score back to just a 5 point deficit, however 2 quick tries from the hosts, through Kurtis Dorks and James Lovell started to push the game away from Stags.
At 33 points to 14 going into the final 5 minutes, Scouts took their foot off the pedal allowing the visitors to grab a couple of late tries and give a more favourable scoreline.
A good win for Scouts against a tough and physical Huntingdon side.
Tries : Inwood, Keable, Dunn, Dorks, Lovell
