Rugby chatter home & away

We have to look back to 2014-15 when Northwich last made a poor start in the opening month of a season, these were the days when it was almost customary for such starts. However that season Northwich still finished third in a competitive South Lancs & Cheshire league in which AK finished champions.
"WE PLAY TOGETHER, WE WIN TOGETHER, WE LOSE TOGETHER, WE STAY TOGETHER"

Did you Know?

1972. I’m sure you all know this one either read the book or seen the movie. A chartered plane carrying 45 members and associates of a Uruguayan rugby team, Stella Maris College's "Old Christians", from Montevideo to play a match in Chile crashed almost 14,000 feet up in the Andes. A quarter of those on board died in the crash, while others succumbed to cold and injury, with eight being killed by an avalanche. A search for the plane was called off after eight days. After an incredible walk across the mountains, contact with the outside world was finally made on December 21 but it was not until two days later the last of the 16 survivors were rescued

Northwich sit 10th in North One West after five matches, winning only one of those, and return to action when they travel to Headlands road SK7 3NA the home of Stockport on Saturday. Their hosts are fourth, five points better off.
Poste said: “I wasn’t sure about having the first weekend in October off, but as it turns out we were glad to draw breath.”
Stockport travelled to Warrington in their last game of September still unbeaten this season but the record went in a close fought game. A fast paced game by Warrington and high penalty count mean Stockport were unable to gain momentum and secured only a losing bonus point.

Northwich 2s are at home to Widnes who are currently on a winning streak beating Colne & Nelson in last week’s cup game 33-24 coming off the back of 3 league victories.

Northwich 3 host Sandbach both teams sit in a group of three all on 17 points, Sandbach winning their last four league fixtures, this will be a testing game for Northwich and may well determine if a promotion challenge is on this term.

Sunday
Northwich colts
return to action travelling to table toppers Wigan who defeated Broughton Park 67-24 in their final outing of September. Northwich also beat Broughton 57-7 so an exciting game is predicted.
