Sedge In The Community

After after several weeks of coaching in schools by Bradford Bulls Foundation children from Hill Top, Shirley Manor & Whitechapel Primary Schools took part in a festival.

As part of the Bradford Bulls Connections programme, Craig Burnham of Odsal Sedbergh & John Raynor of Wyke were in attendance and given the opportunity to join in and engage with children, teachers & parents. It is hoped that the results of the programme will see more children playing rugby league at the two clubs.

The children were split into small teams and played games against one another where they were able to put into practise the skills that they had been taught by the Bradford Bulls Foundation coaches.

It was refreshing to see so many children from the three schools enjoying the event which lasted for around two hours.

There is big focus on increasing the number of children playing Rugby League at Primary School age, in particular lower Key Stage 2 (Years 2 to 4) and professional clubs have received money from BSkyB to enable them to deliver these session.

Following the event the children came together and had their pictures taken with Bradford Bulls players Sam Bates & Adam Brooks, Bullman, and the Bulls Foundation Staff.

All children in attendance were given details of both Odsal Sedbergh & Wyke and how they can join in the fun that the children at the respective clubs have.

The next steps will be for the Bradford Bulls Foundation to visit the schools to hold an assembly with the intention of representatives from the two community clubs being invited along to give further engagement.

All that is left to say is a big well done to all the children that took part, they were a credit their schools & parents. Hopefully we will see some of them at the club in the not to far future.
