Old Brentwoods Colts vs Braintree Colts

After a day out for the colts at Twickenham, they came out bright and early to play Braintree.

They kicked off and our prop BFL (Liam Stone) knocked on the kick off which resulted in a Braintree scrum. A Strong scrum followed and represented the bulk of the Old Brentwood's pack, this then continued all day. After the scrum, we then worked our way up pitch to receive a penalty 15m out. Archie Russell took a quick penalty and had a lovely offload out the back to cabbage (Dan Krout) who carried the ball over to score. The missed conversion from Tim Mason then followed - it would come back to haunt them. 5-0.

All day, scrums and line outs were reliable. On there scrum, super skip (Oscar Warriner) hooked the ball for our backs to go and play with. Archie then offloaded to the hot stepper Sid (James Sullivan) who burnt everyone in sight to finish under the sticks. A simple conversion from Tim followed. 12-0.

Braintree then replied with a well fought try in the corner but they missed the conversion 12 -5. Half Time called and a big second half awaited for the boys.

They scored pretty soon afterwards and a conversion followed 12-12. They then scored again through the middle and broke through the tackles to score. They missed the conversion. 12-17

We then knew we had to switch on and go out on the attack. the boys worked hard to break down the line and get good position on the field. When we finally broke them Archie took it over and scored. Unfortunately Tim missed and we were drawing. (17-17)

We woke up after that and we continued to pressure the Braintree defence. Tim was coming up with fantastic ways to go forwards with cross field kicks but we couldn't quite do anything with them.

Then there was a knock on from Braintree 8 lead to the referee blowing his whistle and finishing the fantastic game of rugby.
