A wet and soggy day greeted the U13s as they arrived after an early start down to Scunthorpe. Notorious for big teams the opposition didn’t disappoint.
While the pitch was wet there was plenty of space from the Brods lads to use and from the offset they were using the open areas well. Capitalising on quick ball the Brods wide men ran in two quick tries on either wing leaving their opponents looking stunned.
Scunthorpe then came back into the game and built good field position to move the ball wide and score.
Brods rallied again after a few stern coaching words and soon were back into a good pattern of play. Despite the size difference the Brods forwards were dominant at the breakdown and scrum, working hard to secure ball and carry over the gain line.
The game stayed close until a few breakaway tries allowed Brods to enter the final third in a strong position and then relaxed and played some sensational rugby, racking up a convincing score 45-5 against a team who have often beaten the Brods.
All lads put in an exceptional performance and the forwards are laying a great platform for the backs to play off the back of.
There’s no better sight in rugby than seeing the wide men running down the wings to score unopposed and forwards working hard keeping the team going forward.
Excellent performance and a few bits to sharpen up in training
Too many good performances to pick out individuals, good solid team display.
