Our opponents were clearly up for this match and we'd like to thank them for an excellent game. Like many other teams in Kent, Tonbridge Judd wanted a piece of the Kent Champions and we applaud them for their play.
The first half was very tight with some signs of excellence from OEs, but no real consistency in such excellence. Good tries were scored by George and Josh Squ, with the first one being converted by Chris. But Tonbridge Judd had also scored as a result of a lose OEs kick, and a screaming run up the line by their 8 who was tackled by Lennox just short of the line, but hurled it backwards for it to find another TJ player who made the touch-down.
Half time - TJs 5 ; OEs 12.
We felt we had much more to offer and started the second half very strongly, with Max scoring after 2 minutes. But a few moments later TJs intercepted an attempted long ball between our backs, and scored between the posts.
Still just one score ahead and despite some decent play at times, it still wasn't clicking. The next 15 minutes saw no score, and one was beginning to get the feeling that the next try would be the crucial one for either side.
Bring on Abdul, an inspired and impact substitution, Abdul scored a fantastic individual try to make the breakthrough (and he continued to look dangerous for the duration). Converted by Chris.
This opened the floodgates and was followed by another great try from the in-form Piers, and the final OE try from the ever-impressive Mitchel.
But TJs had the last say, and we feel they deserved it, with a well worked try which they also converted.
Final Score - TJs 19 ; OEs 34.
Man of the Match - Abdul, for making the difference at a crucial stage in the match.
