Integro Doodson League Cup, Second Round Tuesday 28 November, 7:45pm

Ossett Town make a first ever visit to the Flamingo Land Stadium this evening to face Scarborough Athletic in the second round of the Integro Doodson League Cup, the two sides met in the first round of this competition last season, the Seadogs coming out on top with a 1-0 victory at Ingfield.

The two clubs have run each other close in recent seasons, in 2015/16 both sides were at the wrong end of the table, taking three points each from the two league games, Grant Black became manager in February 2016 and took Ossett Town to 17th in the table while Scarborough ended the season one place above the relegation spots in 20th.

Last season was a huge turn around for both sides, Ossett Town taking four points in the league, the goal less draw at Scarborough was an emotional game for the home side after the devastating news that their Chairman, Dave Holland, had passed away days before the game.

The Seadogs, just outside the play-offs at the time went on an amazing run and ended the season in third, pipping Ossett Town on goal difference and earning a home play-off semi-final tie against the Reds.

The League cup victory for Scarborough earlier in the season was their first at Ingfield, Ossett Town returned the favour in the Play-off’s as they earned our first victory at Scarborough’s home.

The sides have met once already this season, Scarborough taking the points at Ingfield thanks to a 2-1 victory, it was another close game, a late penalty miss by Ossett Town saw us miss out on the chance to take a point from a side who expect promotion this season.

Both sides know each other very well with Scarborough manager Steve Kittrick a former Ossett Town manager and our number two, Steve Ridley a former Seadog.

There are also a number of players in both squads who have played for both sides including Alex Peterson, Emile Sinclair, Nathan Curtis, Dave Merris and recent Scarborough signing James Walshaw.

The game kicks off at the Flamingo Land Stadium at 7:45pm, admission at Scarborough is £10 adults, £5 concessions and £1 for under 11s
