New strength and conditioning facility and coach education room for Club's use

Perthshire Rugby has successfully secured a Scottish Rugby investment totalling £41,501 to convert an existing facility within Bell’s Sports Centre in to a brand new strength and conditioning facility and coach education room for the Club's use. Perthshire Rugby, celebrating 150 years of rugby in Perth this year, achieved funding in the final round of Scottish Rugby’s Club Sustainability Fund awards which supports grass roots rugby in Scotland.

Priority access will be provided for Perthshire Rugby athletes to make maximum use of the new facility. Our Athlete Development Programme & strength & conditioning training will continue to be delivered by our World Rugby Coach Educator & strength and conditioning expert coach, Dan Scott.

Commenting on the award, Perthshire Rugby’s Treasurer, Andy Ritchie, comments, “We have been working closely with Live Active Leisure to secure this additional opportunity for Perthshire Rugby and the people of Perth, building on the current strength and conditioning facilities. The dedicated strength and conditioning facility will be adjacent to our clubhouse and changing facilities in Bell’s Sports Centre. Expert strength and conditioning tuition can make a real difference to an athlete’s performance, power and mental strength and Rugby athletes, Live Active Leisure members and customers and elite athletes from other sports in the community will have access to this new dedicated facility which will help them to maximise their potential”.

Paul Cromwell, Chief Executive Offer for LAL stated:
“This joint project goes a long way to providing an excellent offer for athletes and sports people at all levels and we welcome the opportunity to work with our long-standing partners from Perthshire Rugby. Live Active’s investment into the project, makes a strong statement about our support for club development and athlete progression as well as delivering an excellent new addition for our gym customers. It is also fitting that in the 50th year of Bell’s Sports Centre, we continue to develop the venue as not only the home of Perthshire Rugby but the home of talented athletes as throughout Perth & Kinross.”

It is envisaged that the new facility will be completed during the start of the new 2018/19 rugby season. Progress updates and full schedule will be provided and shared as soon as available. The Committee would like to extend their thanks to Jerry Saunders in particular, for his dedication and personal effort to secure the successful bid and opportunity for Perthshire Rugby's members.
