Wrens stalwart reaches milestone

By Gordon Foster

It will be celebrations at Rainworth today (Thursday) as the club's longest serving club official celebrates his 80th birthday.

Brian Martin has been a member of the club for longer than anyone can remember, and during that time he has served various roles from treasurer via sponge man to head groundsman.
In 2006 'Nip' as he is popularly known won the regional Groundsman of the Year award from the FA, and although he no longer fulfils that role he is now an honorary vice-president of the club, and still attends all matches, home and away.
Brian is the only committee member to have unbroken membership since before the epic 1982 trip to Wembley in the FA Vase final.
All at the club wish him a very happy 80th birthday.
