Redcar travelled to Bishop Auckland, who before the game, were just above them in the league, and after last week’s try-fest were soundly brought back down to earth.
Bishop got off the mark, early in the game with 2 penalties to make it, 6 – 0, Redcar then had the best of the play and went in front when second row Steve Johnson scored a good try, which was converted by fly half Kieran Mcmahon. Bishop hit back and kicked 2 more penalties, before half time.
Half Time 12 – 7
In the second half Redcar continued to incur the wroth of the Referee and they conceded yet 2 more penalties, before Bishop final crossed the Redcar line with an unconverted try right on the final whistle.
Final Score 23 – 7
Redcar will feel badly done to by the Referee who only seemed to penalise one team, but winning is all about reading the ref and playing the laws as he sees them.
