Shepshed Dynamo lost their final away Midland Football League 2-1 at Loughborough University.

Dynamo travelled to the University with a depleted squad and were unfortunate in the end not to come away with a point put Loughborough's constant pressure paid off and at the end of the day deserved the three points which also saw them mathematically safe from the bottom three places in the table.

Shepshed struggled to find a balance in the side and the Uni looked to attack their weaknesses from the start, Ben Last effort blocked on nine minutes followed by Matthew Crookes shot straight at Laurie Pearson four minutes later.

Loughborough continued to dominate proceedings with Legg firing over on thirteen minutes, Crookes shot saved a minute later and four minutes later Pearson saving from Danield Brenan.

Shepsheds first effort came on nineteen minutes Liam Read playing through the pain barrier having his effort saved by Conor O'Keefe.

A lull in the game saw no real threat to either keepers until O'Keefe was called upon to save from Read again on thirty wo minutes.

The University then applied the pressure leading upto half time Andrew Bridge and Elliott Legg having efforts saved before Ben Ward - Cochrane headed straight at Pearson on thirty four minutes Bridge then fired straight at Pearson and two minutes from the end Jake Betts did well to clear from Last to leave the scoreline goalless at half time.

Loughborough's pressure finally gained fruition forty nine minutes Adam Hohn's clearance blocked by Bridge who moved the ball to his right to Ward - Cochrane to open the scoring.

Shepshed dug deep and began to get a foothold into the game. After a foul on the edge of the box by Brenan on fifty two minutes Liam Hursts free kick went wide. But Read was to go close to adding to the Uni's tally.

Matt Langham then found Read on sixty six minutes but he couldn't steer his effort passed O'Keefe.

Crookes then hit the post for Loughborough on sixty eight minutes.

Shepshed levelled the score on seventy Hohn finding Langham and after a neat turn he fired across O'Keefe and could have given Shepshed the lead three minutes later but his effort was straight at O'Keefe.

Dynamo seemed to run out of steam as the Students once again took control of the game Poxon firing wide on seventy five minutes and a minute later they retook the lead Bridges with a free header at the far post beating Pearson from Leggs Cross.

It looked more like Loughborough were to add to their tally with Alex Dinsmores effort saved by Pearson on eighty seven minutes. But it was Shepshed who were to have the final effort of the game with Betts seemingly through on O'Keefe he was deemed to be offside.

A valiant performance from Shepshed Dynamo with the depleted side they had out and may feel disappointed not to have held on for the point but the amount of chances and possession Loughborough University had they deserved the three points.

One final game for Shepshed now as local rivals Quorn are the visitors to The Dovecote Stadium Saturday.
