The Wood beat Radford at Blidworth

With the surface at Debdale Park not ready, The Wood kicked off their home campaign with a 3-0 over Radford at Blidworth MW.

A back and forth 15 mins without much to offer for either team but a cross from Ricky Starbuck evaded the defence and reached Shaun smith who passed it to Liam Theakstone a cross again evaded the Radford defence and Tate Clarke’s shot beat the keeper to give Sherwood Colliery a 1v0 lead.

Some crunching tackles from Radford seem to have evaded the referees view which has left some Sherwood players furious. Finally on 25 mins the referee has shown the first yellow card of the game.

2nd half started with a change for Sherwood Colliery Ricky Starbuck replaced by Ewan Robson.

Keenan Leeds shown yellow card for kicking the ball away resulting in a Radford freekick which came to nothing.

55 mins Ball from york finds Smith who runs down the wing to send a ball across to a Lewis weaver who hit his shot wide.

Radford started the 2nd half with more energy than they did the first and had a good spell but with Sherwood Colliery settling the pace and controlling the game.

65 mins saw Shaun smith chase the ball down from a defenders poor back pass led to Liam Theakstone pondering a shot or cross which led to the defender tackling before he could decide.

67 mins saw Sherwood almost concede an own goal as Radford set up a freekick while Sherwood argued with the officials and only a Liam Kerry tip round the post saved Sherwood Colliery conceding a Jordan Harris own goal.

Radford seem to be getting back into the game over the last 10 mins with a spell of attacking football with Sherwood limiting themselves to using the wings to push forward but Sherwood’s defence is holding strong.

72 mins gone and Sherwood Colliery made a double substitution with Tate Clarke and Liam Theakstone off for Ethan Weiztort and Jimmy Adcock.

77 mins gone and Sherwood Colliery went 2v0 up against Radford as a cross from Jamie york on the right wing was met by Lewis weaver who slotted home to give the wood a 2 nil lead.

80 mins on the clock as Sherwood Colliery further extend their lead as a great ball with outside of the right foot was slotted home by Lewis weaver for his 2nd goal of the game.

83mins smith goes through on goal as keeper comes out box shot is handled outside the box and smith knocks home rebound but referee disallows and gives free kick Radfords much to Sherwood’s amusement.

86 mins a lovely cross field ball finds Ethan weiztort who’s cross only just misses Lewis weavers incoming boot which if connected could have been his hat trick.
