Smudger ..........................................

By simon greenwood

A sad, sad day for everybody who knew Nick Smith ..............

It is with great regret and huge sadness that within the last 48 hours we learnt Smudger had passed away on Wednesday. It is impossible to write many words at this time so we share with you the note Stephen has bravely posted on the 'Support Smudger' sites and
simply ask you all to remember the boy, the player, the team-mate, the friend, the leader, the skipper, the gentleman ......................................

"This is the message I never wanted to write, knew I would have to, but had no idea it would be so soon.

I’m sorry to have to share the news that, at 6am on Wednesday morning, Nick lost his short fight with the terrible condition that is Motor Neurone Disease.

We are devastated.

At the age of just 38, he leaves his wife Rachel, young children Hadyn and Georgia, sister Helen, mum Viv, grandparents Jim and Maura, plus so many nieces and nephews and other family and friends. All of whom adore him.

I know you will be heartbroken by the news - as we all are, especially as he has been taken from us so quickly.

I will let everyone have funeral details once arranged.

Nick - we love you, we miss you, we can’t believe you’ve gone.

Stephen
Nick’s Brother-in-law"

RIP Smudger
