Score makes next 2 games crucial

With only three fixtures remaining both teams took the field with hopes of securing vital points to avoid further pressure in the final two matches.

Early pressure from Southam went unrewarded and it was the home side who opened the scoring after 15 minutes with a try in the corner. This was followed by two well worked tries in the next 10 minutes. Both were the result of slick handling by the Silhillians backs creating space and overlaps with a series of loop moves.

Southam struggled to build pressure throughout the first half with handling errors preventing any continuity, Silhillians by contrast retained possession for long periods which was reflected by the 24-0 half time score.

After the break Southam's tempo improved with more direct running and purpose, replacement Pete Burnell making notable contributions to this and scoring in the corner, converted by Jon Lowden. Any hopes of a Southam comeback were quickly quashed as the support play and strong direct running of the Silhillian backs produced try scoring opportunities aplenty. The pick of the tries scored by the Silhillians left wing showing real pace from his own half to score under the posts.

The final score of 50-7 should add real purpose to preparations for the final stages of the season!
