SIGNING: Rothwell returns to strengthen Clarkson’s side

By Mark Ashmore

Squires Gate are delighted to welcome back midfielder Max Rothwell from Kendal Town

Max returns to the club having played for Gate at the back end of last season as well as in the 2013/14 season.

He left Gate at the end of last season to move back up the leagues to Evo Stik North side Kendal Town where he has been in and out of the side recently.

Gate fans will remember Max from his time here last season when he made five appearances in the last two months of the season impressing with his pace and energy he bought to the midfield.

Due to a change in job Max moved away from the area to London after he left Gate in 2014. Whilst in the capital he played for both Fisher FC and Croydon FC in the Southern Counties East Premier Division where he made it to the last 16 of the FA Vase.

Max lists his former clubs as Chorley, Lancaster City and Kendal Town and at 28 years old is in his prime.

Manager Andy Clarkson was delighted to secure one of his long-term targets and believes that alongside Scott Harries, Max will have a big impact on Gate.

Max will link up with his team mates tonight at training and will be part of Saturday’s squad to face Abbey Hey.

Welcome back to Gate Max!
