Manager David Staff made two changes from Saturday's defeat against Ashton United. In came hat-trick hero Clements and Michael Built. They replaced Dan Lawlor and vice-captain Jordan Smith.
The Daniels started on the front foot a young forward Courtney Meade crossed the ball into the box but no close enough to any Stamford players to take advantage of it.
Stamford did however take the lead after seven minutes. Meade again was involved he passed the ball to Michael Built who swept the ball to Clements who swept the ball past Jake Turner in the home goal.
Two minutes later, the Daniels doubled their lead. A deep corner from the left was swung in by Jon Challinor, the ball was met by skipper Richard Jones, his header looped over Turner to make it 2-0.
Jones came to the rescue a few minutes later when he cleared an effort from a Grantham corner.
With just over 20 minutes played, Stamford made it 3-0. Challinor, this time with a free-kick was swung into the penalty area. Forward Greg Smith went up with the home keeper and the ball ran loose to Clements to sweep home with the keeper stranded on the floor.
The Daniels continued to press for another goal and were almost rewarded when Meade played in Clements but his shot was blocked at the expense of a corner.
Grantham were limited to very few chances and had a shot from distance but it never troubled Andy Stevens in the Daniels goal.
Stamford were then awarded a free-kick themselves and such was the confidence of the team, Nathan Fox stepped up to drive the ball towards goal and his effort was only just over the bar.
Dan Clements scored his third and Stamford's fourth on the stroke on half time. A long throw from Challinor was flicked on by Greg Smith and the ball picked out the unmarked Clements to sweep the ball home.
This was the first time Stamford had scored four goals in a game this season.
In the second half, Stamford continued to press and Courtney Meade, lobbed the ball goal-wards but this was cleared off the line. They could only clear it to Clements and he was tripped in the box. The referee immediately pointing to the spot. Former Gingerbread front man Greg Smith stepped up to take the spot kick but his effort was weak and easily saved by keeper Turner.
A minute later and the home side were awarded a penalty of their own. Lee Ndlovu made no mistake with his spot kick.
This spurred the home side as they had some possession and Daniels keeper Stevens was forced into a smart save from Liam Read.
Stamford still looked for opening and Gregg Smith was unlucky when his shot came back off the crossbar.
This result takes Stamford out of the relegation zone for now but three points is all that separates the Daniels and Marine in 22nd place and just point from Frickley in 23rd. Both teams have a game in hand on the Daniels.
