Six minutes into the game and Stamford missed a superb chance to open the scoring as Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson was played in on goal, he beat the keeper but then was tackled, the ball dropped to Callum Ball who shot wide. Two minutes later the home side almost took the lead as Sam Bradbury’s header hit the post. Eight minutes later Rob Morgan shot from range, but his shot was miss-hit and therefore an easy save for the Newcastle keeper. Four minutes later a cross came to Brad Wells, who laid the ball back to Ben George who shot over. At the end of a quiet first half Jake Duffy fired over from range.
Three minutes after half time Jake Duffy found Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson but his shot hit the post. Three minutes later Eliot Putman shot over from range. Liam Adams then replaced Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson. On the 65th minute some nice play saw a Newcastle cross fly across the Stamford penalty area but an almost certain goal was denied by Henry Eze. Two minutes later Bradley Wells was replaced by his brother Kieran. Three minutes later a long throw from Mike Armstrong fell to Liam Adams whose volley was easily saved.
A minute later Liam Adams ran down the left wing before crossing, the ball pinged around the 6-yard area before Rob Morgan shot towards goal forcing a good block out of Luke Dennis. Following this chance Ollie Brown-Hill came on for Mike Armstrong. Five minutes later Liam Adams, who looked bright after coming off the bench, had a shot blocked on the line. From the resulting corner Henry Eze headed over following a superb Jake Duffy delivery.
On the 79th minute Rob Morgan picked the ball up on the half way line, he drove at the Newcastle defence before laying the ball out to Liam Adams, he played the ball to Ollie Brown-Hill on the overlap and he finished superbly. A minute later a cross from the left was missed by everyone and forced a great reflex save out of Danny Haystead. A minute later Ollie Brown-Hill ran at the Newcastle defence before playing the ball to Callum Ball whose shot was well saved by the Newcastle keeper.
The last chance of the game fell to Rob Morgan, who made a late run into the box for a Jake Duffy free-kick, but his header went well over the bar.
