There was quite a wind blowing down the pitch and with occasional showers, it wasn't the most pleasant of days at Trewint Lane. We were missing some key players today with a virus hitting the squad with Steve Wootton, Dan Colwill and Stuart Parkyn all struck down with the lurgy and Ben Beesley away on his holidays. We were delighted to welcome skipper Dayll Beesely back after serving his 1 game suspension.
Having the wind behind us in the first half helped, but to be fair we were on it from minute 1.
2 minutes in and Ryan Pooley finished off great wing play from Daniel Cox tapping home for 1-0.
We continued to dominate and a thunderbolt from Robbie Green plus a small deflection off the defender made it 2-0 on 15 minutes.
Mike Kempthorne then whipped in corner which was met by the unmarked Robbie Green. His first effort hit the post and he collected the rebound and finished unchallenged for 3-0.
Just on half time Corey Cleave broke free and won himself a penalty which he picked himself up and finished calmly from the spot for 4-0.
Half time: St Minver 1sts 4 - 0 Saltash United
No changes made at half time and after only 5 minutes of the second half a quality lob from Ryan Pooley made it 5-0 and that was game over.
We continued to play high tempo high pressing football and we were looking like we were back to our pre Christmas top form. We were also able ot introduce subs Ed Green and welcome newcomer
Full time: St Minver 1sts 5 - 0 Saltash United
