Forster & Brock Take Tattenhall To The Brink

By Ray Hunt

46 run partnership for 10th Wicket as Mobberley Win By 6 Runs

On a day when over half the League games saw a complete washout, The Flacca was able to see a game of nip and tuck as Tattenhall failed to back up a good bowling performance but still nearly pulled off an amazing comeback to fall 6 runs short.

Mobberley won the toss and batted, Gary Forster and Alan Brock took the new ball. Butters started aggressively but once he fell to Forster on 33, there were regular wickets as the nagging accuracy of Brock (2-39) and Forster (3-27) began to tell. A good late order knock of 27 by the canny Aqueel helped Mobberley to 105 but Sadler (3-17) polished them off inside 31 overs as the fine afternoon continued.
Stability was required against the experience of Aqueel but early wickets meant more nervy batting against the new ball and after 20 overs Tattenhall were down and out at 65-9 with Aqueel taking 4-10 from his 10 overs. Cue Brock & Forster to play a remarkable last wicket partnership and put the pressure back on the visitors. With plenty of time left and no concerns re interruptions they played sensibly to show up what had gone before with an all run 4 from the Cheshire over 50's players to boot. With only 7 required the first false shot saw a catch to mid wicket and Mobberley secured the victory. From 53-9 a 46 run partnership in 71 balls had turned a blow out into a nailbiter. Brock and Forster's all round display made for a superb game.
Tattenhall are now secure in CCCL for next season and we can enjoy next weeks Presidents Day finale for a challenging campaign. We hope to see you all on the day.
