TEVIE BOYS UP AND RUNNING WITH A WIN
The distractions of the World Cup in Russia was put to one side for the evening, as Lewis Saxby brought his Blidworth Welfare side to open the Tevie Boys' pre-season campaign.
Before the game began an impeccably observed minute's silence, in memory of Tom Laister's sister and James Travis' fiancé, Charlotte Laister, took place.
The glorious evening summer sunshine made for a hard, but not very green, pitch but both side seemed to cope well on its first test of the season. The Tevie Boys were playing their first pre-season game, with the visitors on their third.
Just after the half hour mark, the home side took the lead. Danny Fletcher sent the ball up and over the keeper and into the far corner. 1-0. But with half time rapidly approaching, the visitors levelled the game with Jonathon Drake finding the net from a few yards out.

The second period was only a couple of minutes old when the home side were awarded a penalty. No VAR needed here - handball. Danny Fletcher stepped up to the mark and sent the ball to the keeper's left - 2-1.
