Tough Weekend Double For Tigers NIHL

Tigers NIHL face a double game weekend as they welcome Billingham Stars to Telford Ice Rink on Saturday, before heading for a re match with Deeside Dragons in Flintshire on Sunday. The Stars will arrive Saturday full of confidence, riding high in second place in the table. Their line-up features some dangerous players, such as Swedish import Denis Bostrom and Jack Watkins, younger brother of Tigers EPL coach, Tom.

The Tigers trip to Deeside on Sunday will be an early chance to put last weeks defeat to the Dragons firmly in the past and, with the season reaching it’s finale, results are even more important.

Coach Daniel Mackriel commented, “For us, it's plain to see that last weekend wasn't good. All over the ice we didn't play as we know we can and we need to change that. We are taking too many penalties; silly penalties which are costing us.

"It's not just about the penalties though. We didn't defend as a unit, which proved costly, and we gave up too many easy chances.

"From now, until the end of the season, every game will need to be played as a final. This won’t be easy with Saturday's opponents as the Stars boast one of the strongest rosters in the league, which is backed up by their league position.

"If we play at the level we are capable of between now and the end of the season, who knows what will happen.”

Saturday's game against Billigham Stars faces off at 5.30pm at Telford Ice Rink. See tigersnihl.com for further details
