TringRugby - Your Local Home Of National League Rugby

By Stephanie Yule

Derek Truselle tells us all about what makes TringRugby a great place to play national league rugby and how to get involved.

After a meteoric rise through the League structure, Tring have cemented their place in National League 3 London over the last four years.2011/12 has been the Clubs most successful year to date, finishing 7th in this most competitive of leagues.

Head Coach Jon Lambden, previously with Wasps, Saracens and Henley, has created a coaching set-up which has helped the squad improve each year. His coaching has produced a TringRugby style of expansive 15 man rugby which has proved to be both good to watch and successful. Along with the quality of home-grown talent, this style of rugby has allowed Tring to attract players who have played at National 3 and National 4 plus a number of overseas players looking to widen their Rugby experience. Tring has also supplied a number of players to the Herts County side, helping them to reach Twickenham twice in the last few years. Finally, Wasps, Northampton and Bedford have called on Tring players to represent their Academy and A sides. In addition to this, Tring has an excellent academy set-up to bring on the younger players. This is proving an excellent conveyor belt of talent with four of these U19s representing the 1st team this season.

TringRugby is determined to become an even stronger force in National League 3 London and next season is looking to attract ambitious players who want to play at this level at this friendly and inclusive set-up. The Academy is also looking for equally ambitious young players who can be ‘fast-tracked’ into the 1st team squad next year.

The Club plans to hold open Academy and Senior Trials; the first session being on the 14th July and comprising fitness and skills as well as some match play.

So, if you are thinking about playing National league rugby next season remember you can do this locally at TringRugby. Why not come along to the trials and see what you think?
