Match 1 - Walsall 1 - Wolverhampton 0
The scoreline does not look pretty but this was a throroughly absorbing and entertaining game. Both teams played with passion, commitment and skill.
It was real end to end stuff and the 0 - 0 halftime score belied a half of strong running, excellent defence and good distribution.
In the final quarter of the second half legs began to tire and after sustained pressure from Walsall Joe Dickson managed to break free and score a well deserved try.
Wolverhampton came straight back and some last gasp tackles from Walsall prevented a score.
Everyone applauded at the final whistle, and rightly so. Both Wolverhampton and Walsall had played some fine rugby and were a credit to their respective clubs.
The return fixture will be interesting!!
Match 2 - Walsall 6 - Wolverhmapton 2
Two new sides from both clubs provided more entertainment though Walsall,s runners were a little too strong and ran out comfortable winners.
Wolverhampton were not going to take matters lying down and took 2 very well executed scores to stay in touch.
Match 3 - Walsall 4 - Wolverhampton 3
All the other mini and junior teams had long packed their bags and gone home. However both teams were enjoying the rugby so much a third game was agreed and another cracking display provided.
Walsall won through after some strong and powerful running by Brandon who scored twice in quick succession to edge Walsall ahead.
Summary
Some of the best rugby the team has produced and Wolverhampton played a huge part in that as well.
Both teams should be really proud of the effort they put in and the spectacle laid on for the supporters.
