Reg Norris and Andy Wadey put on 40 for the first wicket before Adrian Day broke through removing Wadey. Norris went on to score a fine 66 whilst some fine bowling from Adam Carmichael took out the other end until in his final over Norris was caught at mid-off by Day.
The home side continued to add to their score but Peter Brewer took more wickets although Dan Evans wagged the tail. Waverley’s strong paper batting line up of James Wright, Ben Harris and Simon Brewer were blown away by young Archie Wadey, with only 15 year old
newcomer Jim Ferguson holding the side together. The introduction of Russell Golding, who played a solid innings, enabled the visitors to get close to Elsted’s score but at his demise the task proved too great for the Waverley tail and the travelling side fell 5 runs short.
Man of the Match was Russ for his determined knock, The Pink T-Shirt went to Daddy Doogs for icing a poorly pinky and the W-Anchor hat to AC for a truly disgraceful attempt at a run out.
