Weirs faced Drumpellier in the 1st XI game at Langloan. As has often been the case this season, Sameer Zia top scored, making 30. And as has often been the case this season no one could really give him much support. Mo Afzal scored 27 but no one else could manage to get into the 20s let alone further and Weirs were all out for 123 in just over 30 overs. Khan took 6 wickets for Drumpellier.
Drumps breezed to the victory target of 124 in 26 overs for the loss of just 2 wickets. The defeat surely ends any faint promotion hopes that Weirs might still have had.
At Albert Park Weirs faced Drumpellier in the corresponding 2nd XI fixture. On a glorious day at Albert Park Drumpellier batted first and although they lost a couple of early wickets they were soon capitalizing on some atrocious Weirs bowling and fielding. Experienced batsman Stevie Allison in particular took advantage of being dropped early on to score a century. There were also the now familiar dozens of wides to boost the score further as Drumpellier racked up 289 for 7 off 50 overs.
Weirs batting response was much better than their bowling and fielding. Myles Shields made 46 and Mohammed Usman scored 42 as they put on 190. But they never really threatened the huge victory target and slipped to their third league defeat in a row.
