Second half slump for spirited Wetherby
Experienced Easts prove to much with a second half try spree
The Bulldogs first game of the Summer league was always going to prove a challenge.
With 10 first team players out. The Bulldogs did well to field a team.
Although quite an inexperienced side. They certainly gave it there all. Many players on the park having never played with each other before and some players never had a game of rugby league behind there belt.
Great attacking play in the first half. Fantastic trys from Charlie hall Tom Tetlow, Jordan Picker. All managing to break the line and position themselves well in attacking play.
However with Wetherby already struggling in the pack. They lost two of there forwards to injury. This didn't help the poor display in the second half.
Down to 13 and no subs. The players started to tire and Easts started to rack up the points.
Easts fielded a strong and well drilled side and more than deserved there win, but you cn't take anything away from the Bulldogs. It was a courageous performance with many positives to take away from.
Man of the match goes to Tom Tetlow. An all round diligent display. creating and scoring two trys of his own. Other mentions go to Matthew Savage for a hard workmanlike effort. Tackling an taking the ball in at every opportunity. Fantastic trys from Charlie hall and Jordan picker. Both giving a 100 percent effort.
All in all though. Every player can take positives from the game.
More new faces, more training and the return of injured players will put them in good stead for there next outing.
