Aberaeron fc vs Tywyn Bryncrug

Aberaeron got off to a winning start in the Spar Mid Wales division 1 on Saturday with a workman like performance that was to be the difference between the two sides.
Aberaeron started off a little nervous but kept probing at the Tywyn back line and it soon paid off as on 11 minutes skipper Sion Clarke brought the ball out of defence and spotted space in behind the Tywyn back line and lofted a superb ball for willing runner Mattie Davies to run on to. Davies beat his marker and drew the keeper before lifting the ball into the empty net. Aberaeron then settled and showed better composure on the ball with the excellent Gareth Severs finding pockets of space between the lines to put Davies in again only the keeper was equal to his shot this time. The visitors tried to reassert themselves physically but a poor challenge on Ryan Jones left Tywyn's midfielder with a yellow card. Jones seemed to bear the brunt of their frustrations as another tackle earned Tywyn their second yellow in two minutes. Chances were few and far between for either side as the half drew to an end although Gareth Evans received a needless yellow for an off the ball incident.
Second half started with Tywyn looking to make up for a lacklustre first half by harassing and chasing the ball which put the home side on the back foot and a combination of tired legs and misplaced passes meant the visitors grew in confidence but the home defence stood firm with Rhodri Edwards and Gareth Lewis in particular making short work of many of Tywyns advances.
Rhodri Thomas came on for Ryan Jones as manager Jason Jones shuffled his side round to counter the continuous threat and fresh legs seemed to have the required impetus as good work across the midfield saw David Evans bring a good save from keeper. The resulting corner saw Tywyn clear the ball off the line and a goal mouth scramble eventually saw the ball over the bar for a goal kick. Jamie Owen came on for David Evans as Aeron finished the game stronger to mark a good three points for the new management team.
