With automatic promotion looking extremely unlikely (almost impossible), Aston set out to ruin the Hollybush party as they simply needed 1 point to secure promotion.
Edwards again with a changed side (not through choice!) with Darren Harris at right back and delighted with 2 subs (woop woop) , Permhead at left back and crazy Dave in his last game this season and Clarkey returning to centre back. Angry twins Ross and James joined Beeross in centre mid, with fish running the front line swimmingly, Lombardo wide left and Pig even wider playing on the right hand side.
Aston started slowly, the bobbly pitch and against the wind tended to halt Aston's ability to pass the ball for a majority, with Brad Bryant returning to Hollybush audaciously attempted to chip Edwards in the opening exchanges of which he waddled back to push over the bar. A good chance fell to "The Bish Show" who shot straight down the barrel of the keepers belly. Woop Harriss continued to keep "The Bund" part of the show very quiet on Aston's right hand side.
Aston progressed and started to get into the game, a few heavy heads and heavy touches showed from the Cheltenham week and Aston pressed on and broke the deadlock around 10 minutes before half time. Crazy Dave went nuts with a free kick from 25 yards out that Edwards' lookalike split for Fish to leap into action and placed the ball home. Fish set out to knock the bush off their Perch.
Aston then on top, and half time may of come too soon. With a strange vote of around 6 players struggling, time to take a ticket to be subbed first.
Hollybush flew out at Aston in the second period, and equalised when Danny Breirley beat Clarkey and Edwards to the ball at the front stick to convert a Bryant corner. Really knocked the wind out of Aston's hopes of spoiling the party. Hollybush doubled their lead when Steve Alder converted with a left foot drive from just inside the Aston box. Shouts for handball were ignored from the referee. Reece Wain came on to replace Fish to try to liven up the Aston comeback, followed shortly by Warren replaced by Dave Oliver making his first team debut.
Hollybush then made it 3 when the centre half came through to head home, unmarked with Edwards kankles stuck to his line.
Aston attempted to pile on the pressure, handbags between Rossy and Beeross was as about as passionate as it got however as Hollybush secured the title.
Man of the match this week was Darren Harriss (woop woop), solid at full back, despite drinking copius amounts over the last week.
On to next week, still want to win the last 3 league games and a revenge tie against Bampton in the Quarter Finals coming up. Strong finished is needed and I think deserved from The Lions.
