Banff RFC hosted Dunfermline RFC in their second home game of the season at Duff House.
Banff determined to work on the positive areas in the last games came out strong with some good team play to get some positive pace in the game. An unfortunate penalty within kicking distance of the Dunfermline kicker saw banff behind 0-3 after 3 minutes.
Both teams continued to show strength up front with some big hits made. Banff showed the hard work done in training paying of with some great defensive play. A missed penalty to Dunfermline in the fourteenth minute gave Banff the push again to move up the field. An altercation by Banff hooker Andy McDonald saw him seeing a red card and Banff down to fourteen men still within the first half.
Dunfermline worked a strong forward move to get over the try line to score the first and only try of the day. A conversion saw the score line at 0-10 to the visitors at half time. The second half Banff proved that their defensive line was strong with some great efforts from all the team and notably to man of the match prop Stuart Ferrier.
The team managed to keep the second half without a score from Dunfermline particularly with a man down and some continuous pressure of attack by the visitors within our 5 metre line. Unfortunately though spells of attack did come Banff was unsuccessful in securing any points. Another positive performance by Banff but left feeling disappointed with the full time result at 0-10 to Dunfermline.
Thanks again to the supporters who came down to watch and the volunteers behind the bar and in the kitchen.
This weekend sees Banff take the long trip North to Caithness. All spectators welcome!
