BDHC Annual Dinner 2012
A big thankyou to Laura Thompson-Wright and everyone involved in organising the first BDHC Annual Dinner on Saturday night at the Baskervilles in Baston. A great night was had by all with plenty to celebrate coming up to the end of our first season as Bourne Deeping HC. For those who couldn't make it, the following is a list of trophy winners on the night:

Thanks to Rob and Planty for the speeches, to DJ Will for the tunes, and on a more personal note, thank you to everybody for their kind words on Saturday night and the nice shiny shield sat next to me on the sofa! It may have my name on it (of which I am incredibly proud!) but the award is most definitely shared between an awful lot of people who have stepped up this year to make this merger and this new club a success; not just the entire committee, but the captains, coaches, umpires, everyone who has bought into the idea of BDHC. I am not going to single people out or name names, it would just take too long and I would surely miss someone out, but you all know who you are and should be proud of what we have achieved this year. Anyway, enough back-slapping – to business.... :)

AGM
Reminder that the date for the AGM is Thursday 26th April. All members are invited to attend. Time and venue TBC but keep that date free.
As we say thank you to this years committee and captains, now is the time to get in touch if you would like to take on one of the roles within the committee. Below is a list of the current committee positions:

• Membership secretary
• Junior liaison officer
• Welfare officer
• Fixtures secretary

If you wish to throw your hat into the ring for any of the committee positions or as team captain please email me at graham_brewer@yahoo.co.uk.
We will be discussing next years positions at the upcoming committee meeting on the 4th April in order to identify any possible gaps ahead of the AGM so if you could get replies in ahead of the 4th that’d be great.

Training
Tonight was the last Monday training session of the season and on behalf of the club I would like to thank Dave Grammar for his continued dedication week in week out as head coach. I would also like to thank the rest of the coaching team for all their hard work this season; Jenny Hodgekiss, Sue Oakley, Rob Chorlton, Alex Glover, Paul and Nadine Curtis, and all the other senior players who have given up their time either on a Monday or Thursday night, or on a Saturday morning with the junior section. On behalf of the club, “Thankyou!”

Olympic Tickets Secret Auction.
There were 2 winners in the Secret Auction, both winning a pair of Olympic hockey tickets each.

Fundraising
Thankyou to everyone who donated clothes for the Bag2School appeal which managed to raise £120 for the club. Please don’t throw your old unwanted clothes away, bag them up and keep them or ring me and I’ll pick them up as we have another collection booked for the first week of the summer holidays!

Finally…
For most people their last game of the season is this weekend, but fear not, we will be organising lots of social events over the coming months, some involving playing hockey, some not! So by all means put your feet up and rest those weary limbs, but keep an eye on your emails and the club website www.bournedeepinghc.co.uk for updated news and upcoming events, e.g. social nights, BBQs, summer hockey, etc. And if you have any suggestions please email me!
Suggestions so far include, paintball, golf day, squash tournaments, BBQ.
