Beccs U12s v Westcombe Park (7 Jan 2018)

A positive start to 2018

A good effort from x14 Beccs boys away at Westcombe Park, extended thanks to Mike, Stuart and Rebecca (team admin) & WPRFC for their kind hospitality and spirit in which the game was played.

Considering our last rugby outing as a group was on 3rd December 2017 (5 weeks ago) the morning produced an evenly matched and competitive game on a full size pitch (albeit small for adults), new for both teams, and made for an open and close game throughout. WP competitiveness at the breakdown, particularly the ruck area, coupled with some excellent running lines, and some missed tackles, ultimately the difference between the sides.

Beccs boys can take many positives from the fixture where they all tried their best. The best from Beccs was without doubt the final 10 mins of the game where, despite conceding a few trys, the tackles were sticking with more regularity, and the boys starting passing the ball around producing some exciting and entertaining rugby.

All of which excellently culminated in a great team score, which began on the half way line, followed by several phases, some excellent direct running from Toby and Josh amongst others, a fine offload out of the tackle from Kingsley, putting Stuart in space to gallop in from 10 yards out. The smiles still in evidence at the final whistle, most importantly all enjoyed the big pitch experience. Very well done to all the team.
