U16's Narrow Loss to Sevenoaks
By Seamus McLaughlin
Kent Cup League stages.
In a very tight first half with lots of pressure on Beccs throughout and most of the play in our own half, Beccs playing advantage in the 22nd minute managed to get the ball out to
James Lipka, who sold a dummy and ran in under the posts.
Ben Vaillant added the conversion to make it
7-0.
This was the only score of the first half.
In the 2nd half Sevenoaks stepped up the pressure but after 20 minutes when they finally looked through for a try,
James Van Selm made a try saving tackle very close to the Beccs line.
Sevenoaks persisted and scored their first converted try 2 minutes later
7-7.
Three minutes later Beccs responded, winning a penalty in the Sevenoaks 22, which
Ben Vaillant scored to make it
10 - 7.
In the 64th minute Sevenoaks chipped through the Beccs defence winning the foot race to touchdown for their 2nd converted try
10 - 14.
With the game drawing to a close Sevenoaks scored their third and decisive try to make it
10 - 21.
Beccs showed great spirit to fight back for
Evan Davies to score a try with the last play of the match, final score
15 - 21.
On the day there was very little between the teams and the Beccs players can be proud of the effort and intent they showed throughout.
